Autobiographical sketch of life of Elizabeth Henley Gabeau, a native of Enfield (Middlesex, England), describing her parents courtship in England, her ocean voyage to the colony of South Carolina, where she was raised by Mrs. Wells, an aunt in Charleston, during the later Colonial era. Includes discussion of courtship and marriage to her husband, Anthony Gabeau, and the impact of the British invasion of Charleston during the American Revolution, and folklore re her family's interactions with Lord Cornwallis during the British occupation. Folder includes photocopy of handwritten memoir and a transcription, along with comments attributed to "recollections of old Mrs. Roberts" added at a later date.
